Aer Lingus has signed a codeshare with Qatar Airways, further strengthening the Gulf airline's existing partnership with International Airlines Group (IAG).
The new codeshare will allow connections between Qatar Airways and Aer Lingus flights via Dublin, London and Manchester.
This latest announcement means that Qatar Airways will now have codeshare coverage with all IAG airlines, including British Airways, Iberia, Vueling and Aer Lingus.
Customers will be able to travel between Irish and UK destinations, including Aberdeen, Belfast, Cork and Glasgow, via the Doha hub at Hamad International Airport.
Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori said:
“Our new codeshare partnership with Aer Lingus demonstrates Qatar Airways’ commitment to its customers, who will benefit from a wider choice of global destinations.
“The move also builds on our long-term strategic relationship with IAG as we further expand our codeshare coverage. “It is an exciting opportunity to extend our exceptional service to even more travelers through this partnership.”
Aer Lingus director of strategy and planning, Reid Moody, added:
“We are pleased to launch our new codeshare partnership with Qatar Airways, offering their customers a wide variety of routes and destinations on Aer Lingus’ extensive flight network across the UK and Ireland. “Customers can expect a warm welcome and friendly service and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”
This follows the recent expansion of the strategic alliance between Qatar Airways, British Airways and Iberia, allowing passengers to connect to more than 200 destinations across the three airlines.
