A new Pixar-themed parade comes to Disneyland

A new Pixar-themed daytime parade and upgrades to the “Star Wars” attraction, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, are coming to the Disneyland Resort in 2024. Numerous festivals and celebrations will also dot the theme park’s calendar for next year, which will be made it known. Monday morning at the resort.

A reimagined Pixar Fest will return in 2024, with offerings spanning Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. The latter will host a new daytime parade titled Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!. Disney has hosted a Pixar Parade in the past, as the Pixar Play Parade was once held regularly in California Adventure. The latter retired in 2018, the last time the resort held a Pixar Fest, which was held in conjunction with the opening of Pixar Pier in California Adventure.

As part of Pixar Fest, which is scheduled to run from April 26 to August 4, Disney will resurrect the Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular fireworks show and projections for Disneyland Park. Disney promises new scenes for the nighttime production. For character fans, Disney is bringing Ember and Wade from this year's “Elemental” to the parks, as well as red panda Mei from “Turning Red.”

Also on the agenda for 2024, from April 5 to June 2, will be the “Star Wars” themed event, Season of the Force, which will bring with it the debut of new scenes previously announced for Star Tours. While Disney hasn't offered many details about the added segments, it was revealed at a fan event earlier this year in Florida that Ahsoka Tano's character would be included. An exact premiere date for the updated scenes has yet to be released, as a spokesperson says they will debut “during the celebration.”

Also as part of Season of the Force, Disneyland will solidify Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge as a fireworks viewing destination with the debut of what it describes as “galactic music” during the nighttime illuminations. Galaxy's Edge's audio is largely peripheral: sounds designed to mimic a livable, functional city. The fireworks soundtrack will give the terrain some more traditional, theme park-like elements. Finally, Season of the Force will also see Space Mountain repurposed as Hyperspace Mountain for the duration of the event.

Next year will be one of transformation for the parks and the surrounding Downtown Disney district. The highlight will be the transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which will transform the New Orleans Square and Critter Country areas of the park. Splash Mountain closed in May and renovation work is underway. Disney, releasing its 2024 calendar, did not set an opening date for Tiana's Bayou Adventure, but it is expected to be in the second half of 2024.

Previously announced, the reimagining of the Paradise Pier Hotel at the Pixar Place Hotel will open on January 30, and the popular Disneyland nighttime show Fantasmic! will return on May 24. The latter has been closed since a Maleficent dragon figure caught fire last spring, and Disney has teased a reimagined grand finale. New restaurants are coming to Downtown Disney, including the Mexican-focused dumpling palace Din Tai Fung and Paseo, and its complementary outdoor bar/restaurant area, Céntrico. Opening dates for the restaurants have not yet been set.

No announcements were made about some of the fan-favorite shows coming in 2023, including the Disneyland Magic Happens parade and the Disneyland Wondrous Journeys nighttime show. A spokesperson says details about the “return of Magic Happens” will be shared “at a later date.”

The announcements come after Disneyland raised prices in October and also launched a series of money-saving promotions. In October, Disneyland increased single-day ticket prices on its most popular days by nearly 9%, while parking rates increased nearly 17% and the cost of using the Genie+ ride-hopping service increased by twenty%. Disneyland also currently offers lower priced tickets for Southern California locations. Each resident who pays $225 will receive three one-park tickets per day to be used on separate visits from January 2 to June 2. This discount is equivalent to $75 for each ticket.

The three-ticket package, valid for children or adults, means you can choose to visit Disneyland or Disney California Adventure each time. The $225 offer is valid Monday through Thursday, as those who take advantage of the promotion will be locked out on Fridays and weekends. A Disneyland spokesperson has clarified that those who wish to visit the theme parks on a Friday or weekend can do so for $275, or about $92 per day.

The offer cannot be combined with other promotions, but can be mixed and matched with other offers as Disneyland continues to offer its special kids ticket offer that allows children ages 3-9 to visit for $50. The latter runs from January 8 to March 10.
