Meow Wolf likes to say that its upcoming exhibition in Los Angeles focuses on the art of storytelling: why it's important, what it means, and how stories are transformed.
“This exhibition is about the inevitability of change,” says creative director Elizabeth Jarrett, “and how the stories we tell ourselves and others have the ability to affect the way we perceive change and the way we experience it.”
That also means Meow Wolf, known for its large-scale explorable facilities in Las Vegas, Denver, Houston, the Dallas suburbs and its base in Santa Fe, New Mexico, will double down on its experiments in other media. Throughout the Los Angeles show, guests will find mixes of live action and animation, shadow boxes, games and even a mini escape room, only here guests will have to enter a secret room instead of leaving it.
The Times spent two days in Santa Fe late last year to preview the Meow Wolf exhibit in Los Angeles, which will occupy part of the Cinemark complex at Howard Hughes LA later this year. Here are five quick things to know about the experience.
