The upcoming NFL season officially kicks off on September 5, 2024, and ahead of the start date, YouTube TV has revealed multiple new features aimed primarily at the American football audience.
NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers will have the ability to create their own multi-view setup, meaning they won't be locked into a preset combination.
YouTube says users can watch two, three, or four Sunday Ticket games at once. Subscribers can also enjoy its multi-view setup “on mobile and tablet devices, in addition to TVs,” so they never have to worry about missing a spectacular play. Basic Plan members, however, will have to settle for searching for multi-view streams of NFL games that air on select stations locally.

Fantasy football players will then be able to connect their Yahoo Fantasy account to YouTube TV through the platform’s Fantasy View feature. The announcement states that to connect their account, users must go to the “Sports” tab within the app’s account settings menu on their smartphone.
Once everything is set up, a new “Fantasy” tab will appear on the Scores & Stats page of YouTube TV. This tab will display your team’s players, scores, and the opponent’s player roster, among other things.
Additionally, several enhancements to Fantasy View are planned for release. Sunday Ticket subscribers will be in for even more attention, as they will gain exclusive access to the feature on tablets and web browsers later in the season.
Additionally, fantasy football players will begin to see “key plays and multi-view combinations tailored to their… lineups” in a future update.
New design
In March, YouTube rolled out a new two-column layout for its video player. Viewers can watch a video on the left and check out the comments section or channel description on the right. This same layout is now being rolled out to sports content. Instead of commentary, though, you'll see live stats, scores from other games, key plays, and information about your fantasy football team's lineup.
Other notable features of the patch include a spoiler mode to hide final scores, “advanced playback controls” such as stream delay to “reduce live spoilers,” and a shortcut called Jump to Last Channel. This allows you to jump between channels so you don’t miss out on the action.
It's not known exactly when the update will be released, other than that it will be out sometime in the fall. We've reached out for more information on that and will update this story if we hear back.
