The official trailer of 3 Body problemNetflix’s new multi-genre show has made its debut online and looks like it’s going to be an epic, mind-blowing affair when it releases in March.
Released on the second day of CES 2024, the trailer offers our best look yet at the upcoming Netflix series, based on Liu Cixin’s best-selling book. The three body problem – the first novel in the beloved Cixin trilogy Remembrance of Earth’s past.
Frankly, the two-minute long teaser also doesn’t do justice to the scope of the story Cixin’s literary works tell. However, rather than wax lyrical about what’s shown in the latest images, I’ll let you watch the trailer first and provide more details below.

This is not the first 3 Body problem images we have seen. In June 2023, we reported that game of Thrones‘The showrunners swapped gory fantasy for mind-blowing sci-fi with their first Netflix venture, which received its first teaser at Tudum 2023. In November, a first clip was also shown, and we’re sure it will have given your virtual reality nightmares (VR).
But enough blowing our own trumpet: what is 3 Body Problem really about? It’s complicated. You see, Cixin’s novels tell a dense, yet rich story that spans all of time, space, and human history, making it difficult to condense his plot into a more manageable synopsis, without spoiling anything.

As mentioned, game of Thrones television program Creators DB Weiss and David Benioff have brought 3 Body problem come to life on the small screen – their first major production since their HBO high fantasy series came to a critically panned end in 2019.
The couple is joined by Alexander Woo (True Blood, Terror: infamy) as co-creators, writers and executive producers of one of the 10 most exciting shows I selected for early 2024. However, as with most film or television adaptations, some creative license has been taken with Cixin’s material, which means long lasting. Time fans may not be thrilled with the potential deviations from the source material.
However, speaking to Tudum.com, Woo is hopeful that die-hard fans of Cixin’s works, as well as newcomers to the series, will find something to enjoy in the Netflix adaptation. “What we hope to do is convey the experience – though not necessarily the exact details – of the novel to the screen,” Woo said. “What remained, we hope, is the sense of wonder and the sense of scope, of scale, where the problems are no longer just the problems of an individual or even a nation, but of an entire species.”
3 Body problem it’s something like game of Thrones meeting, with the hiring of Weiss and Benioff Thrones John Bradley alumni, Liam Cunningham and Jonathan Pryce will play key roles in its first season. That trio is also joined by other notable names, including Benedict Wong (doctor strange), Jovan Adepo (Babylon), Rosalind Chao (Star Trek), Eiza Gonzalez (Godzilla vs. Kong), Jess Hong (grafted), Marlo Kelly (challenge me), Alex Sarp (A life), Ben Schnetzer (And: The last man), and Saamer Usmani (Inventing Anna).
Willpower 3 Body problem Will it appear on our best Netflix shows once it’s released? We’ll know for sure once it releases on the streaming giant, but based on what I’ve seen so far, I’m firmly in the “yes” camp.
