Strands is usually a simple game: you figure out what the clue is, get an answer to confirm your theory, and solve the rest with relative ease. But sometimes you can tick off the first two actions but struggle to do the third. Today was one of those games.
The clue to the topic, heat and eat, was relatively obvious, and when I first discovered STEAM I thought it would be a piece of cake. But no. There was no BOILING or ROASTING or GRILLING or GRIDDING or TOASTING or BROILING or FRYING. No MICROWAVE or BAKE or BARBECUE. Where were the answers?
Finally, I discovered DEGLAZE almost by accident and realized I would need more advanced cooking techniques. Spangram, which was simply COOK, simplified things a bit, nicely splitting the board in two. And then I had to search my mind for ways to prepare the food. I eventually got them all down, but it took a while.
