The answers to today's Strands game #173 are…
- MUSK
- SANDALWOOD
- CEDAR
- PINK
- LEMON
- LAVENDER
- SPANGRAM: COMMON CENTERS
- My rating: Moderate
- My rating: 2 tracks
I have no complaints about today's Strand, it was just too hard for me to solve without needing some clues. But it's good overall, pretty coherent in terms of the theme clue and spangram working properly together and with six other answers that could be obtained, but it's not easy.
The problem, as I discovered, was that even when I knew what I had to do, I couldn't pull any of the COMMONSCENTS out of the deeper regions of my brain and onto the Strands board. LEMON was obvious, and I saw SANDALWOOD simply because of its position in the corner/side of the board, but for some reason I couldn't think of others like MUSK and ROSE, even though in retrospect they are obvious. I got there eventually, though, and that's enough for me for today.
