Early mobile gacha game, Love live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live Its release date was finally announced on Twitter. The same publication confirmed that the game will only be available for about three months.
The games official twitter account posted the news, confirming that it will be released on mobile devices sometime in February 2024. This should be good news for fans of the first Love live! gacha title, which was permanently taken offline in March of last year.
However, the same post continues with a downright strange twist: “However, we also want to inform you that the global version will be closing its doors on May 31, 2024 and will consequently discontinue in-app purchases. We appreciate the love and “The support you have shown and we are committed to making these last few months an unforgettable moment.”

Needless to say, potential fans of the upcoming game were not happy with this announcement. “I've never seen someone announce a launch and a shutdown in the same tweet,” reads one response.
“There was Persona 5 Collaboration planned?” jokes another, referring to the bad fate of gacha games like Lost Dragalia and Star ocean: anamnesis which featured a promotional collaboration with the popular role-playing game.
The whole situation with Love live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live It almost seems like a parody. A number of high-profile Gacha game closures have been announced recently, including the end of the service for Nier Reincarnation, which will stop operating in April of this year.
Understandably, the fact that most gacha games seem to have a relatively short lifespan can leave fans feeling jaded. But to announce the release date of a game and subsequent closing in the same position? That's something that's really unprecedented and I think it bodes poorly for the subgenre in general.
