If you love the smoky flavor of barbecue but don’t have outdoor space for a grill, or you just don’t want to cook in the rain and snow, there’s a new countertop appliance that promises the results of a pellet grill without all the smoke. which can set off your fire alarm. The capture? It will cost you $1000 (around £800/AU$1500).
The appliance in question is the GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker, which uses wood pellets to give your favorite meats, seafood, and vegetables a genuine smoky flavor. The device can apparently achieve this without smoking in your home thanks to its active smoke filtration, which converts smoke into hot air before releasing it.
It is also much more efficient with the pellets it uses compared to external smokers. GE hasn’t given exact numbers, but a House Beautiful tester who tested the device says that a single pound of wood pellets got them through several cooks, while they would normally go through several pounds of pellets to do the same amount of cooking in an outdoor smoker.
The GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker also comes with some useful additional features, such as independent heat sources for wood pellets and meat, so you can cook and smoke at optimal temperatures; a built-in temperature probe, so you can prevent your food from accidentally turning into jerky; and adjustable smoke and food settings so you can prepare your food however you want.
As we mentioned, the only major drawback is that this smoker will cost you an arm and a leg: $1,000, which puts it right up there with higher-end outdoor smokers in terms of price. What’s more, if you like to cook outdoors in nice weather, you’ll probably want a separate grill, since this device is designed for indoor use only.
There are also some other minor cons according to people who have tried it. It takes up a good amount of counter space and is only suitable for cooking for up to six people.
We’ll have to test the Smart Indoor Smoker for ourselves to see how well it works, but right now this is a one-of-a-kind device, and if you want to be able to prepare smoked foods indoors, and you have the budget, it may be worth the money. worth taking a look at.
