It has been a long time since I made a huge and ambitious leap to the Game PC ecosystem, and with it many ups and downs have arrived. As someone who also plays games on the console, specifically Sony's PS5, it was incredibly frustrating to go from a simple start and game design, and then deal with the file test and adjust the configuration of other PCs.
However, once I got used to this and also learned about the benefits of the platform, in particular that the PC multiplayer was free (as it should be), it became my main game station.
Unfortunately, that is not the case with consoles. Both Microsoft and Sony have long introduced multiplayer subscription plans, through Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus, respectively, which means console players has to Subscribe A, in most cases, play online games (excluding free titles such as Fortnite).
Now you can read that and say: “Well, it has been so for years, and it's normal, right?” The first is right, yes, but the last statement explains the problem in a few words. Since this subscription model paid online was introduced for console games, players are sadly normalized and simply break as something that only has To do. So much so that it is now at the point of no return, since it has become a standard for years.
In a nutshell, we all already pay for an Internet service to use on multiple devices, especially Internet access on PCs. If there is a new online game that I hope, I can easily buy it and immerse myself without additional positions required on platforms such as Steam, Battle.net or the Epic Games store. So, if that is the case, why the exception with the consoles?
Ultimately, it leads me to understand that PC games are a cheaper expense in the long term versus consoles. Still with me? Well, I will explain why.
Game PC hardware is more expensive than console hardware, but spending to play games is not
Although I have recently encouraged console players to stay away from the PC, due to the ridiculous GPU prices inflation, this point still does not change; The pc hardware of games is more expensive than the consoles, yes, but in fact Being able to play is cheaper.
On PC, players have access to a variety of economic games, either through the free Epic Games Store (also main games) or key market online markets such as CD keys, which offer new games at significantly lower prices. I do not remember the last time I had to pay the full price for a single game, and part of that includes some of Steam's generous sales.
Now, there are console games available in key places, and I dare to say plenty For Xbox consoles, but that is far from the same story for PlayStation games. There are few games in key retailers, and if there are, they are often old titles that appear months after launch.
What is worse is that Sony's PlayStation store has barely any Windered sales and old games tend to remain at their original retail prices, even years after launch. If you don't believe me, look good Ragnarok War GodA 2022 game that is still $ 69.99.
Essentially, you are paying (which could be $ 80 soon) or be forced to wait for a rare and attractive discount for a game, since the industry is very far away from physical copies. At least with physical copies, this would not be a big problem, since prices would vary, and you cannot take away the game at any time, but that privilege is slowly fading.
I clung to my RTX 3080 TI for 4 years, after buying it initially at £ 1,099 (the equivalent was $ 1,199), its original retail price, closer to the end of its life cycle in 2021. Despite the terrible PC ports of recent years, it could have easily continued with the GPU of the NVIDIA series RTX 3000 (especially now with DLSS 4) I would not have had the privilege.
My point is that although buying high -end hardware is expensive as a package, it can last more than console generations without the need for an update, while games are not as expensive as console, specifically, Sony PlayStation systems. The point is that the consoles are dragging the price of the PC, with the PS5 Pro at $ 699.
Ps plus and xbox game pass multiplayer access is not 'good', it is ridiculous
And, of course, there is the elephant in the room, which is PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass. The first base subscription plan, which is known as 'essential', costs $ 59.99 per year, only a few dollars below what I would pay for the standard edition of a new Obligations Game at $ 69.99. You add the cost of service and game, and you are paying $ 129.98.
It gets worse with the 'Premium' plan that essentially replicates the Xbox game pass, but without the titles of the first day, and costs $ 119.99. Do you see where I go with this?
I can guarantee the Microsoft game pass service, which offers many new first -day games for console and PC players, and that does not happen with PS Plus, and honestly, its monthly games are mediocre. However, that does not do it better, since you still need to pay for the game passes game to play online on the console.
However, PC players do not have to trust the game's pass for new games and can find economic alternatives. There is little reluctance when buying cheaper PC games, and I don't have the same feeling with my PS5; It has nothing to do with being “broken”, but knowing what is worth buying and what does not.
If the price is what has dissuined him to build a PC for games, then he only knows that the first and greater obstacle will be the price of hardware. After that, you are on their way to cheaper games without payment walls for things that should be previous requirements.
