Squid Game The second season is coming in a few months and we finally have a clearer idea of what the new installment will bring. With the first season setting new records for Netflix, aka the best streaming service in the world, fans, including myself, have been desperate to see what happens next. We've already been hyped for a big The Platform 2 update, and now Squid Game has a huge new trailer.
The end of the first season of this worthy entry on the list of the best Netflix series hinted that Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) would return to the games, but, after enduring some truly awful things among other desperate hopefuls who were all out for money, he’s clearly had enough. It seems like he’s on the warpath, ready to take down the games from the inside, but, considering the angst and twists of the first season, anything is possible.
Thankfully, Netflix Geeked Week has answered our prayers when it comes to Squid Game The story of Season 2, with a first real sneak peek (see below) and a press release from Netflix giving us our best insight into the second installment of this popular show.
What is the plot of Squid Game season 2?
Set three years after winning season 1 of Squid GameThe sole survivor, Seong Gi-hun, decides not to visit his daughter in the United States. Instead, he finds himself drawn back into the twisted children's games, with a new batch of desperate contestants willing to compete to the death for a massive prize of 45.6 billion won (about $34 million).
The trailer itself is wordless, but there's a lot to be seen in its 30-second runtime. Guards are once again keeping a close eye on participants, while an overhead view suggests that Gi-hun (and us, the viewers) are returning to the blood-soaked island from the games. As you'd expect, specific gameplay details aren't clear, but the trailer hints at some pretty dark stuff, like pushing ribbon-tied coffins into an incinerator, ominous countdowns, gun-toting guards around every corner, and more.
The final shot confirms that Gi-hun is once again player 456, and the cycle repeats itself, as a large group of tracksuit-clad contestants walk out into a courtyard with large rainbow circles. It's the closest image we've seen of any game so far, but we'll have to be patient. Squid Game The second season doesn't premiere until December 26, so at the time of publishing, we're still three months away from meeting up with Gi-hun, Young-hee, and more. The holiday season can't come soon enough.
