The new Salem's Lot movie looks creepy in the first trailer and I'm thrilled that Max's remake has retained an integral detail from the story.

Stephen King adaptations are plentiful, with the horror author's works being adapted to the big and small screen on a regular basis. Sometimes they've been masterpieces (check out our list of the best Stephen King movies), other times total flops, but Max's recent remake of The Salem Lot is already looking promising.

Right off the bat, what strikes me the most is the fact that they decided to set the story in the 1970s. It already seems like they're staying true to the original novel and I'm glad they didn't decide to modernize it. The 1970s vibes work and if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!
