Stephen King adaptations are plentiful, with the horror author's works being adapted to the big and small screen on a regular basis. Sometimes they've been masterpieces (check out our list of the best Stephen King movies), other times total flops, but Max's recent remake of The Salem Lot is already looking promising.
Right off the bat, what strikes me the most is the fact that they decided to set the story in the 1970s. It already seems like they're staying true to the original novel and I'm glad they didn't decide to modernize it. The 1970s vibes work and if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!
As one of the best streaming services out there, we always have our eyes peeled for what Max will do next, and we were recently treated to the first trailer for their take on The Salem Lotwhich you can see below.

When is Salem's Lot coming to Max?
Just in time for Halloween: The Salem Lot It's streaming on Max starting October 3. I'm eager to tune in and see if it's worth adding to our roundup of the best horror movies, because, let's be honest, horror can be notoriously unpredictable. But right now I'm feeling optimistic!
If you live in the UK, don't worry, because The Salem Lot It's also due out in cinemas on October 11, so there will be plenty of opportunities for people without a Max subscription to watch it too. However, if you're keen to watch Max, here's how you can do so in the UK.
The new adaptation of The Salem Lot It is produced by horror legend James Wan, who has worked on projects such as Saw, Insidious, and The spellso it's safe to say it's in very experienced hands. If you haven't read the book or seen the original 1979 film, follow one writer (he loves (Isn't that the writer protagonist?) who returns to his hometown and discovers that the locals are turning into vampires. That's all you need to know, now buckle up for a wild ride!
