The legal and ethical implications of sharing the web with bots

Bots have evolved rapidly over the years and, with the new era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), they continue to progress. A report shows that in 2022, 47.4% of all internet traffic came from bots. This is an increase of 5.1% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, human trafficking, reported at 52.6%, was the lowest in eight years.

Internet bots are often associated with harmful or suspicious activities, such as distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks or the spread of misinformation on social media. However, bots are also widely used for task automation and efficiency. Therefore, it is necessary for companies to learn to distinguish between the two.
