The saga of the disastrous Sonos app update continues and the audio company has now rolled out several bug fixes with the latest update, but there's still a lot of work to be done before users are happy again.
As you can see in the release notes for the latest Sonos app update (via The Verge), along with “smoothness and reliability” improvements, the Android version of the software restores the ability to clear the upcoming queue.
It's basic functionality like this that was missing from the recently revamped version of the Sonos app, and has led some users to start looking for alternatives, because features that were established in the previous version are missing.
According to Sonos, this latest patch also adds some accessibility improvements to the Settings section of the app, so it should be easier for everyone to access them. There's also a new Night Mode switch in Room Settings for soundbars.
Coming soon
In a post on Threads, the Sonos team says more improvements are coming soon: better volume response, UI improvements, improved system stability, more reliable alarms, improved queue editing, and Trueplay support for iOS 18.
However, this is all taking time and has been going on for months now. Features like reliable alarms should have been addressed from the start and Sonos' initial response to user complaints wasn't the most understanding.
In fact, at one point the situation got so bad that Sonos was even considering bringing back the old app, but now it seems that won't be possible. Hopefully, more improvements will be made sooner rather than later.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding,” Sonos says in its Threads post. “We know there's more work to be done, and we won't stop until we deliver the Sonos experience you deserve.” Hopefully, sooner rather than later.
