- The rumored redesign of iOS 19 could be called 'liquid glass'
- It can present transparency, brightness effects and a glass surface
- This could prepare the scenario for the iPhone of the twentieth anniversary of Apple in 2027, which according to the reports will have a very glassy design.
Now we are only a few hours from WWDC 2025, where we hope to hear everything about iOS 19 (or iOS 26, since it is likely to be called) among other software. But before that there are still new leaks, and you can follow them in our WWDC 2025 Live blog. However, the last leak is great, since it sheds more light on how iOS 26 could be seen.
We have been listening for a while now that Apple could be ready to renew iOS, with a new glass design, and now we are learning more about what this could involve.
According to Apple Mark Gurman Tipster, writing for Bloomberg, iOS 26 could have a new appearance called 'liquid glass'. Apparently, this will have “brightness and transparent images of a glass surface”, with “transparency and brightness effects” at all times.
According to reports, this is the greatest visual change for iOS from iOS 7, so since Apple might have nothing important to show in the front of AI, this could be the highlight of WWDC.
A new look for a new phone
However, according to Gurman, this Redesign of iOS could also be destined to match well with the iPhone of the company's twentieth anniversary of the company, which will be launched in 2027.
What we have also been listening could be in a redesign, and Gurman says he will have curved glass edges, small bezels and no cut on the screen.
It is a design that could really emphasize the glass of the phone, and in fact, this iPhone is apparently known internally as 'glass alwing', referring to a type of butterfly that has transparent wings. Therefore, its glass design would probably fit well with the 'liquid glass' software from which we listen.
However, that is still years away, but if iOS 26 has a liquid glass design, then you can probably see the side of the software of things later today, and try it soon.
