The CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios has told players to save money and wait until helldivers 2Servers are repaired before purchasing the game.
Despite the growing popularity of the third-person multiplayer shooter, the PlayStation 5 and PC game has been suffering from ongoing login and matchmaking issues, and they have been particularly prevalent this week.
After initially increasing the total concurrent player capacity from 250,000 to 360,000, Arrowhead was again forced to limit it to 450,000 due to server instability, but unfortunately, the decision did not improve the situation.
In fact, more and more players are joining the fight for freedom and new statistics prove it. helldivers 2 has surpassed 411,000 active players on February 19, surpassing players like grand theft car 5, and the numbers don't seem to decrease.
Although the game is tremendously fun, now doesn't seem like the right time to invest money in this state, and Arrowhead's CEO and helldivers 2 Creative director Johan Pilestedt seems to agree.
In response to an X (formerly Twitter) user who said he wanted to play but had no money, Pilestedt saying“If you don't have cash, get it later. While we made a really fun game, it's worth waiting until the servers can support the capacity.”
“I mean, as CEO, of course I want the game to be as profitable as possible, but if you spent $ last year and got stuck in server queues, I'd be đŸ’”.”
Fortunately, Arrowhead recently confirmed that a PS5 and PC update is coming sometime today (February 20), which should improve server and connection issues. However, the studio noted that “no update will solve all problems” and that players can expect more patches in the coming days and weeks.
It also looks like the developer may be thinking about adding an AFK timer for players who keep their game open to avoid queue times.
