Apple has announced two new MacBook Air models featuring the new M3 chips that launched last year.
When the powerful M3 chip was introduced, new MacBook Pros were also announced, but the more affordable MacBook Air was notable by its absence.
That has now changed, as Apple has launched a surprise launch, with the 13-inch MacBook Air and 15-inch MacBook Air now available for pre-order with the M3 chip.
The 13-inch MacBook Air (M3) will start at $1,099 / £1,099, and the 15-inch MacBook Air (M3) will start at $1,299 / £1,299.
Pre-orders went live alongside the announcement and it will be in stores starting Friday, March 8.

Hello and goodbye
While Apple's announcement was unexpected, it wasn't entirely unexpected, as there were rumors that the company was about to release some new MacBooks, and the two MacBook Air sizes seemed the most likely.
With the launch of the new M3 models we also say goodbye to a couple of models. Apple no longer sells the original MacBook Air M1, which long sat at the top of our list of the best laptops. It's a shame, as it's still a great, affordable laptop.
Instead, Apple continues to sell the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip, which will now sell for $999 / £999. This makes it the cheapest MacBook model and is now an even better value.
While Apple will continue to sell the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, it appears that the 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip will no longer be sold.
