Strava revealed an impressive roadmap of features coming to the platform in late 2024, including dark mode, AI-powered analytics, and safety features aimed at vulnerable cyclists and runners.
After years of asking, users of one of the best fitness apps will finally be able to use dark mode in the app, along with an update to the app's design. Strava says it aims to release dark mode, along with the revised design, in the “summer” of 2024, planned for July or August. It will be available to both premium and free subscribers.
Strava also intends to lean on AI. Strava will use machine learning to detect “irregular, improbable or impossible activities recorded on the platform” to eliminate traps or incorrect recordings.
Also announced were AI-generated routes through difficult terrain and a new feature called Athlete Intelligence. Athlete Intelligence will present users with a summary “that contextualizes their fitness goals and achievements” and offers personalized guidance. The service is based on the recorded activities of millions of Strava users.
Strava will also add a previously announced enhanced Clubs experience to the Strava app, where users can create clubs, send messages within the club, or start a club challenge through the app.
Strava Premium users will now also have the option to save through a new “Family Plan,” which will allow groups of Strava Premium subscribers to share discounted memberships with up to three other people. It will launch in “select countries” later this year and arrive worldwide in late 2024. Pricing was not revealed at the time of writing.
