Developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) have revealed the upcoming downloadable content (DLC) for The Sims 4 and focuses on everything related to romance.
First and foremost, The Sims 4 Lovers The expansion pack adds the ability to create an online dating profile in the new Cupid's Corner app. Your Sims can browse other profiles, match with other Sims, and plan dates. In addition to a selection of characters from your current world, the app will feature player-created Sims from the online gallery, theoretically giving you nearly unlimited dating options.
The way Sims manage their relationships has also been overhauled with the addition of an attraction system that balances what they're attracted to and what they're not. This will affect how attracted Sims are to each other and reflect the overall compatibility of their interests, choice of activities, and more. Relationships will fluctuate between four possible dynamics based on your choices: healthy, passionate, tense, or unpredictable.
During a date, you'll be able to quickly change your choice of location, making it easier to visit different areas or take you back to the bedroom. Other Sims will finally no longer interrupt your dates (unless you specifically choose to invite them into a conversation), keeping the focus solely on your partner. In addition to this, a new romantic boundary system allows you to control how your Sims will treat various boundaries, such as physical and emotional romantic exclusivity, and more precisely control when they experience jealousy.
The Sims 4 Lovers It also includes plenty of new items and interactions, like an Adult Dress-Up Box that will let your Sim equip themselves with all sorts of accessories from a maid costume to a wrestling suit, boxes of candy to share, and a portable blanket to get dirty on the go. In addition to two new aspirations, Paragonism Companion and Romance Explorer, a new romance skill will gradually increase as you gain more experience, unlocking even more interactions to try out.
It's not all rosy, however, as Sims who experience too many breakups can die of a broken heart. Those in especially toxic relationships have the option to go to therapy before it's too late, and your Sim can even try to help others through a new Romance Advisor career that comes with its own unique rewards.
As with others He Sims 4 expansion packs, In love presents a new world to explore called Love City. With a sprawling park, a variety of romantic date spots, and a downtown neighborhood with plenty of unique venues, it seems like the perfect place to take your dates.
The expansion will be released on July 25, 2024 and is currently available to pre-order for the standard price of $39.99 / £34.99. Those who purchase the expansion before September 5 will get some additional digital items, including Cry Me a River Eyeliner, Basic Breakup Double Bed, and Herbert Heart Plushie.
