After countless leaks and reports about foldable phones, smartwatches, headphones, and even a smart ring, Samsung has just announced its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. All eyes will be on the city of love – Paris – and, judging by the invitation, on the devices that fold.
Samsung will officially unveil its new products on July 10, 2024, with an event starting at 9 am ET / 6 am PT / 2 pm BT. Like previous Galaxy Unpacked events, it will be streamed live and TechRadar will be in Paris to unravel everything announced.
Taking into account all the leaks and that Samsung usually uses its summer Unpacked to present the latest Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip foldable phones, we have a pretty good idea of what we will see.
Waiting for foldable phones and lots of Galaxy AI
Just from the invitation shared by Samsung, we see something developing front and center, hinting at the Galaxy Z Fold, which folds from a standard phone to a tablet, or the Z Flip, which is a modern foldable phone.
It casts an interesting star shadow that resembles Samsung's Galaxy AI logo for its set of AI-powered features, including image editing, note summaries, and even text generation for messages.
The invitation doesn't hint at much more, but we do know that there will be a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024 and it will be streamed live on Samsung.com.
The teaser video gives us a little more and you can watch it above. We see that foldable image rotating, showing the Eiffel Tower in the first spring, hinting at the location of Galaxy Unpacked, and then showing the Galaxy AI logo.
We expect Samsung to show off the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, which we expect to have similar designs to last year, with faster performance from the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chip and a host of Galaxy AI features. If you're looking for better cameras, the Flip 6 will likely get more hardware upgrades than the Fold 6.
In addition to foldable phones, Samsung should introduce new wearable devices, including a smartwatch, smart ring, and possibly even headphones. If the latest reports are true, we should see the successor to the Galaxy Watch 6, with a standard or Pro model on the horizon, but this could be the year we get a Galaxy Watch Ultra as well.
The Galaxy Ring has already been teased. It was first shown at Galaxy Unpacked in January 2024, where Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24 family. TechRadar even had the opportunity to test a prototype. It looks like Samsung's first foray into a new wearable form factor is just a few weeks away.
Last but not least, Samsung is likely preparing to bring its Galaxy AI feature set to its headphones, and it could be similar to the integration we saw debut on Nothing with the Ear(a) headphones that integrate with ChatGPT. Samsung's next Galaxy Buds could include Google Gemini if there is any AI-powered partnership, considering the two companies have such a close partnership.
Of course, nothing is official until Samsung makes it official… fortunately it's only a few weeks away. We'll find out exactly what Samsung is showing off on July 10, and if you're already interested, the tech giant has an offer for you.
As with previous Galaxy Unpacked events, you can pre-order, with no commitment required, and unlock a $50 instant Samsung credit towards new Galaxy devices… Samsung even specifies Galaxy Z, which means foldable phones are definitely in arriving. Samsung is also promising trade-ins worth up to $1,500 on a new Galaxy device. You can get the full scoop here.
Either way, stay with TechRadar for all the information on Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked on July 10, 2024.
