Sure, Samsung just launched two new foldable phones at its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024, but the tech giant is also sharing some news about a partnership that will make it easier to repair a wide number of Galaxy smartphones.
Thanks to the new partnership with AT&T, AT&T customers will be able to receive same-day repairs at nearly 700 locations across the United States, including select Samsung retail locations, such as the flagship 837 store in New York, and several uBreakiFix by Assurion locations.
This is an enhanced version of Samsung’s “Same Unit Repair” option, meaning the device you purchased will be repaired instead of being replaced with a different unit, and in some cases, it will even be a same-day repair. As you might suspect, there are a few requirements to meet to be eligible: your device must be on AT&T with an active account, and the device must be under Samsung’s standard Limited Warranty.
Samsung also notes that these walk-in, same-day repairs are typically available for newer devices rated the Galaxy S21 or newer, and appointments must be completed by 3:00 p.m. The advantage here is that a same-day repair can easily be scheduled through AT&T.
Another benefit is that since the repair is for your current device and not being exchanged for a different one, you probably won't need to back up any data and can get on with it right away.
This new repair option for Samsung Galaxy owners is in addition to other authorized repair options, including mailing in the device. Of course, this is a plus for AT&T customers, as Verizon or T-Mobile customers do not yet have this same access or option.
It will be interesting to see if Samsung is interested in working with other carriers, and we've reached out to them to ask about that.
This new repair option comes after Samsung and Best Buy ended their partnership, which allowed GeekSquad to handle authorized in-store repairs. So, if affected customers are on AT&T, they'll be able to access a similar repair experience. It also comes after Samsung and iFixIt parted ways to offer self-service repairs.
But if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone on AT&T, your wireless carrier can now help you find a same-day repair location to get your device working again.
