Warning: spoilers for Robin Hood episode 2 ahead.
The first two episodes of Robin Hood have appeared on MGM+ at the same time, and we're already reeling from a shockingly brutal death.
Rob (Jack Patten) escapes to Sherwood Forest after clashing with the Earl of Huntingdon (Steve Waddington), who also turned out to be responsible for Rob's father being killed, and meets the Sheriff of Nottingham's Chief Constable (Sean Bean).
“These Aren't Cheap Tricks”: Why Robin Hood's Suspense Episodes Are So Good

“They're all designed to bring you back, but they're designed in such a way that they're an organic part of the narrative,” English tells me. “I mean, it's not just cheap tricks from writers.
“Each cliffhanger is about taking Rob's character to the next level of what we know about Robin Hood. You know, that's the thing. That's how he becomes Outlaw, that's how he gets that name. As you go through the series, what it really does is build the mythology. As we get to the latter part of the season, we get a fully formed version of Robin Hood and we really understand how he got there.”
And this is what English and co-creator John Glenn have achieved so well. By reimagining Robin Hood's origin story, viewers are treated to a fully realized young man with many problems. He is identifiable, almost one of us. Everything that happens to him is something that is imposed on him rather than something sought after.
“For me it's episode 2, my favorite,” says English, and with the surprising level of brutality, it's easy to see why. Rob's reputation and safety are once again in question and the stakes are high.
But what about Glenn? “Episode 6 is a great cliffhanger. I love the ending of that episode.”
After watching it, I know this is another solid option (honestly, it's not really bad). But you'll have to wait another four weeks for the full reveal.
