The official trailer of MR. And Mrs. Smith has debuted online, and Amazon's TV remake of the spy comedy starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is still looking really good.
Starring Donal Glover (atlanta, Community) and Maya Erskine (blue eyed samurai) – the latter replacing original star Phoebe Waller-Bridge in April 2022 – as the titular duo, MR. And Mrs. Smith seems to be all your Prime Video spy cousin Citadel it was not. In fact, it looks fun, sassy, full of charisma and wildly entertaining, so go ahead: watch the show's final trailer to see for yourself:
I had already chosen MR. And Mrs. Smith as one of the 10 shows I'm most excited to watch in early 2024, and this latest trailer only cements my opinion that it's going to be a sure-fire hit on Prime Video. In fact, if it doesn't end up appearing on our list of the best shows on Prime Video once it launches in early February, I'll be very surprised.
Because? Well, apart from the fact that it stars two brilliant actors, Glover and Erskine, it looks like a lot of fun. And, with a cast completely stacked with a who's who (I saw Ron Perlman, Paul Dano, John Turturro, Sarah Paulson, Michaela Coel and Wagner Moura in the final trailer alone), there will be plenty of excellent actors for the show's main pair to bounce.
However, fans of the original Pitt-Jolie-starring 2005 film should note that Amazon MR. And Mrs. Smith Some creative liberties have been taken. For starters, it's a TV show, not a movie, and will consist of eight episodes in its first season.

According to Amazon's official story synopsis, its plot will also be different from the previous one. “In this version, two lonely strangers get jobs for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel and a dream house in Manhattan,” he reads.
“The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now married, John and Jane navigate a high-stakes mission each week as they face a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they discover real feelings for each other. What's riskier: espionage or marriage?

If you're in the UK, be sure to catch all eight episodes as soon as they arrive on Friday 2 February. This is because Amazon plans to introduce ads on Prime Video on British shores from February 5 (N.B: The ads will already be present on Prime Video US by that date, with Australian viewers receiving them later in 2024).
