It is a year milestone for the Toy history The franchise as the original film is 30 years old, and one of its most emblematic walks is to obtain an important review in Disney World.
Confirmed in March 2025, Space Ranger Spin of Buzz Lightyear, located in Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland In the Orlando, Florida Resort, is experiencing a significant renewal.
The objective? Greater immersion and increasing the level of fun. The attraction already allows you to board a travel vehicle, turn it and join the Star command in the fight against Zurg. Since its original opening, the guests have used integrated Blasters to achieve a variety of objectives, but the upcoming updates take things to the next level. Disney shared in the spring that the Blasters would be removable instead of fixed in place, and that the target discs would obtain a complete redesign.
In a Disney World Media event at the end of July, we take a look early to the new experience: try updated blasters and be among the first to see the new travel vehicles.
I was already excited about the changes in one of my favorite attractions, but after trying them, I am convinced: Disney is using practical technology in the most intelligent way possible to increase immersion.
As we have seen with recent projects such as The Haunted Mansion Parlor in the Disney Treasure Ship or the Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic in Disneyland, Disney's final objective is not just about specifications and performance.
Take the new blasters, for example. I have to handle a preproduction version, and the improvements are obvious. They are more ergonomic with a smaller general construction that is now free to move in any direction. That means that you can point where you want without turning the entire travel vehicle, which should be a great precision advantage. Previously, these Blarsters were screwed and could not get up, only a fixed movement to the left, to the right, up or down.
There are also other improvements: incorporated Haptics give feedback when it reaches a goal, LEDs light up when the trigger squeezes in the front and rear, and each blast in a vehicle now has its own color for easy identification. You will wear red or green, and the objectives are also transformed with this tone. As someone who has lost the notion of my shots in the Red Led Sea before, this is a great update.
The objectives are also changing. Instead of original lighting discs, new versions have circular LED screens with physical elements. The family “Z” yellow and orange for Zurg remains, but the support is now dynamic with animated hyperspace effects, and there is the potential for thematic overlaps. As expected, if you hit the bullseye, the objective reacts with perfectly synchronized images, sound and blister feedback.
Disney also announced the redesigned travel vehicles, designed after the Buzz Lightyear guardianship. They are thinner, but they should still settle comfortably in two cyclists.
And yes, the punctuation system is also making a shine. The old LED numbers limited screens at 999,999 for the “Galactic Hero” state are changing by screens that track the scores far beyond that.
While I could not sit in the updated vehicle or see the new screens in action, those feel like cherry in addition to the general experience. Improved blasters are handled much better, and the freedom to eliminate support should greatly expand the number of objectives that competition can achieve and increase.
The technological improvements under the hood, including haptic engines, a softer and more integrated LED trigger, paired with the redesigned target discs, really carry this attraction to the modern era. I can't wait to experience the full version when it opens in 2026.
Once Disney World confirms an opening date, we will share an update. We also look forward to the new promised travel scene, essentially the images you will see on the track, and the debut of a new animatronics imagination has been developing.
Meanwhile, while waiting for the official opening, you can see again Toy history In Disney+, one of the best transmission services that exist. Who knows, maybe a complete pov will fall on the day of the launch.
