NYT Strands Today (Game #83): The Answers
The answers to today's Strands game number 83 are…
- TIME
- BET
- MOOSE
- FILTRATION
- COLD
- MEET
- PAIR
- SERIAL
- SPANGRAM: HOMOPHONES
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: Perfect
This is great. After all, the reason we all love word games is that they make us think about language. And (as you might expect from someone who spends their days writing), I love languages.
HOMOPHONES was the spangram, and the pleasantly cryptic 'Sounds delicious!' It kind of gave the game away, or at least it should have once you discovered an answer. For me, that was TIME, which of course sounds like “thyme.”
After that, I located the spangram, which gave some structure to the board, and then methodically worked on the rest. But it wasn't easy, quite the opposite. There are nine answers to find today and plenty of common consonants and vowels to assemble your words with, so it's a tricky beast. Still, I prefer a difficult but fun puzzle like this than some of Strands' other recent puzzles, so more of this please, NYT!
