NYT Strands Today (Game #80): The Answers
The answers to today's 80th Strands game are…
- BASIL
- SAGE
- THYME
- PARSLEY
- ROSEMARY
- CILANTRO
- SPANGRAM: HERB GARDEN
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: Perfect
It's a common saying of mine that Strands can be very, very difficult until something clicks… at which point it becomes much more accessible. Today's game is another good example of this. 'Homegrown', as a thematic clue, is actually reasonably useful, but it wasn't enough to make me realize that what I needed here were herbs. It was only when I came across BASIL, totally by accident, that I understood what was needed and from then on (THYME onwards?) it was simply a matter of finding the words.
the letter of Scarborough Fairetched firmly in my mind by both the Simon & Garfunkel cover and the incomparable Bob Dylan song. North Country Girlhelped me find several more, which was a nice bonus because this last one is now playing on repeat in my head, and that's never a bad thing.
