Strands' theme clues can sometimes give away too much, and today was one of those days. 'Great colour!' the clue shouted, so clearly that they were going to be shades of a particular color; “cool” made it obvious that it would be blue.
That didn't make finding them all that simple, of course, because although I got COBALT and BLUE near the top of the board early, then discovered TURQUOISE by focusing on what I could pair with Q, I was a bit stuck for a while afterward. . that. I could see the word BLUE in the middle of the board and thought it would be part of the spangram, but it took me a while to establish that I needed THEBLUES. The other answers fell into place quite easily after that.
