NYT Strands Today (Game #107): The Answers
The answers to today's Strands game number 107 are…
- TOOTHBRUSH
- PENCIL
- HANDLEBAR
- WALRUS
- HORSESHOE
- SPANGRAM: MUSTACHE
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 1 track
This is the classic Strands challenge, in that it's really difficult until you know what the concept is, and then once you solve it, it becomes a lot easier. However, this was complicated for me by a spelling difference.
In the English-speaking world outside the United States, MUSTACHE is spelled MOUSTACHE. And that tripped me up, because although I had an idea of what it could be from the beginning, the fact that I couldn't find an MOU pattern on the board left me baffled and looking for a different angle.
In the end, I needed a clue to get started, but once I had PENCIL, plus the theme clue “It's right under your nose!”, I decided it just had to be related to facial hair and started searching. others. After a few minutes I realized my mistake and found the spangram, and the rest of the answers quickly followed.
