NYT Strands Today (Game #217): The Answers
The answers to today's Strands game number 217 are…
- BACON
- CHICKEN
- TOMATO
- VINAIGRETTE
- VEGETABLES
- EGGS
- SPANGRAM: COBBSALAD
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: Perfect
I guess there could be a divide between the people of the United States and the rest of the world here. Or maybe it's just me who hadn't really heard of COBBSALAD and that's why I had trouble figuring this one out. I was also very confused by the theme track 'Do you have blue cheese?', which made me think it was a French thing, because if not, why is it spelled 'bleu' and not 'blue'? So it was all a bit disconcerting.
I eventually figured it out, but it was really just a case of trial and error. I saw BACON early on and also CHICKEN, so I realized it was a food-themed puzzle. It took me a while to find the others, and getting the spangram was based entirely on there being nothing else it could be at the time I got it. It's not the most satisfying game for me, although if you know and like Cobb Salad (which sounds gross to me) then you might have been fine with it. Ho hum.
How was today? Send me an email and let me know.
