NYT Strands today (game #185): the answers
The answers to today's Strands game #185 are…
- ARCHES
- GLACIER
- REDWOOD
- SAGUARO
- MOORS
- SPANGRAM: NATIONAL PARKS
- My rating: Difficult
- My rating: 4 tracks
This is one of those Strands games that will prove much, much harder if you don’t live in the United States (or don’t have a deep understanding of that country). I’m not going to complain too much about that (the New York Times is an American publication, so I understand why it would focus on that country), but in my view, it’s a deeply unsatisfying game, because I had very little chance of solving it without a lot of clues. And why would I have to? I doubt the average American could name too many UK national parks…
In this case, my game was simply to ask for a clue, find the word, find more words that gave clues, ask for another, and repeat, repeat, repeat. I got the spangram and also BADLANDS, but I'm afraid I had never even heard of SAGUARO, ARCHES, or GLACIER, so I had very little chance of getting a perfect score.
