NYT Strands today (game #119): the answers
The answers to today's Strands game #119 are…
- SAPPHIRE
- EMERALD
- TOPAZ
- GARNET
- AMETHYST
- SPANGRAM: JEWEL TONES
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: Perfect
I'd never heard the term JEWEL TONE before, which made this Strands puzzle quite difficult to solve even once I figured out the concept, which was relatively early in the game.
The fact that I had never heard of GARNET and didn't know how to spell AMETHYST also made things a lot harder than they might have been otherwise. As a result of all that, this was a pretty mixed bag for me – names like EMERALD and RUBY were obvious and easy, some of the others not so much. Still, I got it done in the end, and without using any hints. I'll take that any day.
How did your day go? Send me an email and let me know.
