NYT Strands today (game #188): the answers
The answers to today's Strands game #188 are…
- DENIM
- CHIFFON
- VELVET
- SATIN
- SPANDEX
- JERSEY
- MUSLIN
- SPANGRAM: FABRIC
- My rating: Moderate
- My rating: 1 track
I'm a simple guy. I wear denim on the bottom of my clothes and cotton (or more likely polyester) on top. And that's it. SPANDEX? VELVET? CHIFFON? No, no, and not again. I've heard of all of them, though, which is why I was able to solve today's Strands puzzle, albeit with a clue along the way.
The problem today was that a lot of these words are spelled in unusual ways: SPANDEX has that X, VELVET has two Vs, CHIFFON has two Fs… it's not like they would stand out unless you knew what you were looking for. Being a distinctly old-fashioned guy, I didn't really know, so it took me quite a while to figure this out.
