NYT Strands today (game #181): the answers
The answers to today's Strands game #181 are…
- Spoons
- BROOM
- COWBELL
- WASHBOARD
- STOVEPIPE
- BONES
- SPANGRAM: JUGBAND
- My rating: Moderate
- My rating: Perfect
I had never heard the term JUGBAND until today, but thankfully the 'Improvised Music' theme track, coupled with my early discovery of SPOONS, cemented the core concept in my mind very early today.
That made the task easier, though not easy, because apart from a couple of entries (WASHBOARD, COWL), I didn't know that these things were used as instruments. So figuring it out became a trial-and-error task, where I looked up words, played them, and saw if they were answers. How do you play a BROOM? What is a STOVE PIPE? I may never know the answer (unless I look it up), but at least now I'm intrigued.
