I'm pretty upset with myself for not getting a perfect score today, because this is another fairly easy Strands puzzle from the NYT. But I needed another clue to get started, as there was no standout answer despite the relatively obvious (in retrospect) thematic clue. The frustrating thing is that “Gnaw-it-alls” suggested an animal to me, and I looked for a beaver, which seemed like the most obvious example. But it wasn't there, and I used a clue to get started.
Once I got that first word (HAMSTER), everything became much easier. MUSKRAT and SQUIRREL were simple, the spangram even more so, and although the last two were harder, largely due to their spelling, I completed the game in only about five minutes.
