NYT Strands today (game #134): the answers
The answers to today's Strands game #134 are…
- DUKE
- RICE
- locks
- NORTHWEST
- BROWN
- TEMPLE
- SPANGRAM: UNIVERSITIES
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 4 tracks
This was one of those Strands puzzles that was made much harder for me by the fact that I was born outside the United States. As I've mentioned before, I live in the UK and, with all due respect to past and present attendees of TUFTS, RICE and TEMPLE, I'm not an expert on American universities. It's easier in the UK; think of a city or town and chances are you've also named a university, which is apparently not the case in the US.
The upshot of this is that I needed multiple clues to solve today's game. I managed to find the UNIVERSITIES spangram on my own, plus NORTHWEST and BROWN, but that was it. Frustrating.
