NYT Connections Today (Game #361): The Answers
The answers to today's Connections game #361 are…
- YELLOW: TAKE ACTION DRIVE, INDICATE, PUSH, PUSH
- GREEN: UNO CARDS DRAW, INVEST, JUMP, WILD
- BLUE: HAIL SIZE COMPARISONS BASEBALL, GRAPEFRUIT, MARBLE, PEAS
- PURPLE: PLACES WITH BANKS COURT ROOM, DUGOUT, GYM, PARK

This was strange. Somehow I solved the blue before the yellow and the purple before the green. In fact, I didn't really solve the green at all; I got it by default, but I didn't know what the answer was. In fact, I didn't know what the response was to any of them other than the yellow MOVE TO ACTION message.
Let's start from the beginning. I quickly realized, as I'm sure many people did, that BASEBALL, PEAS, GRAPEFRUIT and MARBLE are everywhere. It never occurred to me that the connection was HAIL SIZE COMPARISONS, but it was a pretty obvious link between them anyway, so I played it and played it well.
Next, I resolved the yellow MOVE TO ACTION group, which was the only one where I knew why it was a group. That left two more. THE COURT, THE DUGOUT, THE GYM, and THE PARK were all places, so it seemed like they might as well be connected, although again I didn't know why. But I played it anyway and got the right purple. And ironically, I had no idea about green, because I had never played Uno. Like I said, it was kind of strange…

What are NYT connections?
NYT Connections is one of the increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow is a little harder, blue is usually quite difficult, and purple is usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you don't technically need to solve the final question since you'll be able to answer it through a process of elimination. What's more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little breathing room.
However, it's a little more complicated than something like Wordle and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For example, be careful with homophones and other puns that could disguise answers.
It can be played for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile devices.
