Today's NYT Connections (Set #467): The Answers
The answers to today's Connections game, number 467, are…
- YELLOW: SHOW OFF FIGURE, IMAGINE, SUSPECT, THINK
- GREEN: SOMEONE CHARACTER, INDIVIDUAL, PARTY, PERSON
- BLUE: CHARACTERS FROM “THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK”, FAMILIARLY BOBA, CHEWY, EMPEROR, SOLO
- PURPLE: WORDS AFTER “KITTY” CAT, CORNER, HAWK, LITTER
- My rating: Moderate
- My rating: 2 mistakes
Some of the words in today’s Connections have a distinct Star Wars theme, which as a child of the 80s I obviously love. SOLO, CHEWY, BOBA, and EMPEROR are all in there, but sadly the NYT couldn’t find a way to include MILLENNIUM FALCON (although HAWK, who is a Star Wars character, is in there). HAWK wasn’t part of the Star Wars group, but the other four were, forming the FAMILY connection of BLUE CHARACTERS FROM “THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.” The NYT likes these kinds of groupings, and recently gave us a JURASSIC PARK one as well.
With that easy task marked in blue, I was on my way to another success (14 in a row), but I made my life more complicated by getting tangled up in the yellow PRESUME and green SOMEBODY groups. FIGURE looked like it could go with CHARACTER, PERSON, and INDIVIDUAL, but it didn't, and then I changed CHARACTER to SUSPECT, but that was wrong, too. Eventually, I realized my mistake and put PARTY in the green group, which allowed me to solve both that and the yellow and not have to worry about the purple.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of the increasingly popular word games created by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that have something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is a little harder, blue is usually quite difficult, and purple is usually very difficult.
The plus side is that you don't technically need to solve the last one, as you'll be able to answer it by process of elimination. Plus, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a bit of wiggle room.
However, it is a bit more complex than something like Wordle and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trick you with tricks. For example, beware of homophones and other wordplay that could disguise the answers.
It can be played for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile devices.
