The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series is widely expected to appear in the coming months, and we just got another indication that these wearables will be launching soon.
Both the Galaxy Watch 7 and a cheaper variant of the Galaxy Watch FE have appeared with the US FCC (Federal Communications Commission), Android Police reports, a major regulatory step for any device going on sale in the United States .
The model numbers at the point of presentation suggest that we will get four Galaxy Watch 7 variants: two with a 40mm case size (one with LTE connectivity and one Wi-Fi only) and two with a 44mm case size (again, one with LTE connectivity and a single Wi-Fi).
An additional model number in the documentation likely refers to a cheaper Galaxy Watch FE, which was previously rumored but could be called something else. However, there's no sign of a Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Pro here.
The story so far
We have already had many leaks pointing to the existence of successors to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, but it is not entirely clear how many different models we will have by 2024.
Various rumors have suggested that three versions of the smartwatch will arrive: a standard model, a classic, and a Pro model. We've also heard of significant improvements in battery life and a possible redesign to improve the look of these wearable devices.
A Pro model would make sense for Samsung, if it wants to take on some of the best Garmin smartwatches on the market and, indeed, the Apple Watch Ultra 2. However, there is apparently no mention of a premium edition in these FCC filings.
Everything should be revealed on July 10, if the rumored date for Samsung's next Unpacked event is accurate. In addition to the Galaxy Watch 7 series, we also expect to see the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Ring, and Galaxy Buds 3.
