Netflix has revealed the official title of Knives out 3 – and fans are already evoking their inner detective to try to figure out what it means.
Shadow released by the world's best streaming service today (May 24), the new title of the upcoming Netflix movie is Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. The crime novel's new name was also revealed via an X/Twitter post by Rian Johnson, who directed the first two films in the series. Knives out franchise. The video begins with the voice-over of the eccentric detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig in the first two. Knives out Movie (s. In it, and in his typically dramatic style, he says: “At first, the knives came out. Then, look! The glass shattered… but my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed ” before the animated images confirms the official title of the film and that it will be one of the new Netflix films of 2025.
No other details were made public about Wake up dead man, save for confirmation, as if it were needed, that Craig will return for his third appearance as Blanc in the film's title role. The only additional clue provided by Netflix regarding Knives out 3 was that Blanc would return for “his most dangerous case yet.” Even with that sinister tease, we can expect more of the same comedy-filled murder mystery plot threads and subversive storytelling from Johnson, Craig and company.
Johnson also returns as writer, director, and likely one of Wake Up Dead Man's many producers. Joining Johnson on the executive production front is frequent collaborator Ram Bergman, who has worked alongside Johnson since the latter's debut as director in 2005. Brick.
Delving into X/Twitter, Johnson revealed that principal photography was scheduled to begin on Knives out 3. Considering that its predecessor was filmed in just 78 days (between late June and mid-September 2021), it is possible that Wake up dead man could be filmed at an equally fast pace. If so, we might even see Knives out 3 will arrive on Netflix in mid-2025.
