The Witcher: Sirens of the DeepNetflix's second animated film set in the Witcher-Verse won't be releasing this year after all.
Announced in a Geeked Week 2024 video starring voice actor Doug Cockle, who reprises his iconic role as Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher video game series in the upcoming film, Sirens of the Deep will not arrive before the end of 2024. Instead, it will now aim to enchant viewers around the world on February 11, 2025.
The film's official release date was revealed alongside a new clip, which showcases Geralt and Jaskier, another fan-favorite character from The Witcherenjoying a meal by a campfire while talking about Essi, a rival bard and friend of Jaskier.
Sirens of the Deep It was expected to be released on the world's top streaming service sometime in late 2024. In fact, Netflix has said as much about it. The Witcher: Sirens of the DeepThe film was officially announced last November, but the streaming giant, for unknown reasons, has given the adult animated film a revised release date.
For anyone who needs to know, Sirens of the Deep It is based on 'A Small Sacrifice', a short story that accompanies the novel by Andrzej Sapkowski. The Witcher Book series that expands on Geralt’s adventures across the Continent. According to a Netflix press release that was released alongside the film’s official announcement in late 2023, the famed monster hunter will “investigate a series of attacks on a coastal village” before Geralt “gets drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and mermaids.” It’ll be up to everyone’s favorite mutant — and allies old and new — to prevent an all-out war from breaking out between the land and sea realms.

A temporary pause for Netflix's star fantasy franchise
With The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep The release isn't planned until early next year, so 2024 will be the first year that Netflix won't release a new Witcher-Verse project.
In fact, since then The Witcher's first season debuted in late 2019, Netflix's live-action and animated versions of Sapkowski's beloved book series have always provided something new for new and established fans to enjoy and/or bristle with frustration. Despite the aforementioned debut of one of Netflix's best shows, 2021 saw The Witcher Season 2 and The Witcher: The Wolf's Nightmare Unleashed on the world, 2022 brought us the criticized climate The Witcher: Origin of Bloodand in 2023 fans said goodbye to Henry Cavill after his final appearance as Geralt in The Witcher Season 3.
2020 was the only other year in which a new production of The Witcher was not released, but there were extenuating circumstances, such as the pandemic, which severely impacted the development of the second season. If it weren't for Covid-19, Netflix would likely have released a new season or a standalone production every year for the past five years.
As things stand, with Sirens of the Deep It will not be launched until February 2025. The Witcher Season 4 is in the middle of its development cycle, and The rats'The live-action spin-off series has been cancelled, so there won't be any trips to the mainland for viewers to watch. Still, with The Witcher suffering from diminishing returns on the critical and commercial front, taking a year off may be a blessing in disguise. After all, thanks to the Hollywood strikes of 2023, Marvel was forced to scale back its output in 2024, and look how the MCU's waning fortunes have changed as a result. Why can't Netflix's Witcher-Verse enjoy a similar renaissance period in 2025 with Sirens of the Deep and if it's ready, The Witcher Season 4?
