- New Surface devices are on the way
- Intel and AMD chips could be involved
- Expect new products starting in March.
Our review of the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 will tell you that we're very impressed with Microsoft's own-brand computers this year, and it looks like many more Surface products are headed our way in 2025.
A full leak from Windows Central outlines what's next for the Microsoft Surface. Apparently, we'll be getting new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop models in 2025, both with Copilot+ PC branding and Intel Lunar Lake CPUs inside (as previously rumored).
These will be the first Intel-powered Surface computers with the AI-focused Copilot+ PC brand, following the Qualcomm-powered models mentioned at the beginning, as Lunar Lake brings with it the necessary neural processing architecture.
However, don't expect them to change too much in terms of aesthetics. Microsoft is likely to stick with current designs for the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop in 2025 and beyond, according to the Windows Central report.
A mysterious new device
Some other tidbits: The new Surface Pro and Surface Studio will have anti-glare screens (unlike the more recent versions), a card reader option will be available, and we may even see 5G on the Surface Laptop for the first time.
It looks like the Surface Laptop Studio will also receive a 2025 update. Intel or AMD chips could be used here, but again the Copilot+ PC branding will be used. According to internal sources, a 16-inch version is being considered at Microsoft.
A new 11-inch Surface device is also in the works, according to the report, which will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, although it's unclear what the form factor will be. Finally, a new Surface Dock is also rumored to be on the way.
We can expect these new products to start appearing starting in the first quarter of 2025, says Windows Central, so that will be no later than March. Of course, plans and timelines may change, but it looks like 2025 will be a fun year for Microsoft Surface fans.
