A new month not only means the arrival of a new Meta Quest 3 update (with the recent release of v68 adding useful interior design tools for free), but it also signals the arrival of new free games to the Meta Quest Plus subscription. This month (August 2024) it's narrative-driven puzzle and adventure games. Mystery – a classic remade in VR – and Ragnarok – a rhythm and racing game with a Nordic and Viking theme.
Mystery VR is a recreation of the puzzle game that was first released in 1993 and was remade several times with better graphics and more interactivity as computers improved.
It's an icon of the genre, and while not everyone considers it the perfect puzzle game (partly due to its advanced age), it's a title that many agree you should try. Since the VR version is free with Quest Plus, there's no better reason to give it a try.

Ragnarok, on the other hand, is a raucous racing game where you use your hammers to beat drums to the beat of Viking-inspired music. Doing so will make your boat row faster and help you earn gold medals in single and multiplayer matches.

If you're looking for other VR games to enjoy, check out my favorite Meta Quest 3 games and apps for July 3, 2024.
For a monthly fee of $7.99/£7.99 (or an annual cost of $59.99/£59.99, which is a considerable saving), you can access many free VR games through Meta Quest Plus. There are titles like Mystery and Ragnarok that you can only download for free during a specific month, but then you can play them for as long as you're subscribed (or if you re-subscribe if your membership expires).
There are games in a rotating catalog similar to Netflix's, which currently includes Demeo, Minigolf for a walk, Tetris effectand 9 others, which will alternate. Therefore, you will not always be able to play a specific title, but you will find something that entertains you.
If you want to play a lot of different VR games and don’t have a lot of preferences, Quest Plus is a good option. It’s also included in Meta’s buy-now-pay-later plan for Quest 3, though that way of getting a 512GB headset and membership isn’t as good a deal as it could be, as we found out.
