Max subscribers may be frustrated with the streaming service after the shocking news of an immediate subscription increase last week. Furious Max users have been vocal about the recent price increase, criticizing the streamer's relative lack of content, and the same arguments are being made following their decision to cancel the show. The series was short-lived, airing from 2022 to 2024. It followed Western journalist Jake Adelstein, working for a publication in Tokyo, as he takes on one of the city's most powerful crime bosses. But now it has come to a head, leaving many fans criticizing Max even more.
Speaking about the cancellation of what we rate as one of Max's best shows, a spokesperson for the streamer said (per Deadline): “Of Tokyo Vice PresidentFrom the richly written material to the gorgeously composed shots and vivid performances, the care and creativity of this enormously talented cast and crew shines through every frame of the show.
“We thank JT, Alan, Ansel, Ken, Fifth Season and Wowow for their collaboration on this totally unique modern noir thriller.”
Separately, series creator JT Rogers and executive producer Alan Poul added: “The response from both press and fans, particularly to season 2, has been overwhelming. It's been exciting to discover how deeply viewers have become involved with our characters and hear them clamor for more.
“We know there is more story to tell. Of course, we'll see what the future holds, but we're really grateful to have been able to share this story about Max so far.”

Another argued that the series should move to Netflix, calling it “one of the highest quality shows in decades,” criticizing Max for an oversaturation of content but not focusing on good quality shows.

Right now, Tokyo Vice PresidentMax's future is uncertain, but it appears his time at Max has come to an end. If they pick him up, he'll probably go to one of the others best streaming services – after all, it wouldn't be the first canceled Max show with excellent reviews to be found on Netflix.
