We are less than a month away from Deadpool and Wolverine making its way into theaters, and Marvel has started the countdown to its arrival with the release of a new trailer.
However, if you're already rolling your eyes at another footage-filled trailer we've already seen before, you might want to check this one out. Because? Because the new 60-second trailer for Marvel's Phase 5 movie contains a lot of new footage. In fact, I would consider it a glorified trailer, because it mainly hints at a rematch between two individuals who first faced each other in the first live-action film. X Men movie.
Yes, we're getting another showdown between Hugh Jackman's adamantium-clawed mutant and Sabretooth (real name Victor Creed), one of Wolverine's most notable adversaries in Marvel comics. The duo faced off on the big screen in the 2000s. X Menthe first installment of the now-defunct Fox film franchise (read our X Men (See the movie order guide for more details), which saw Wolverine best his arch-nemesis in the final act of the film. 24 years after that fight, we'll get another showdown between the pair, albeit one that will be far more violent. Deadpool 3 will be rated R – make their duel in the first live action X Men movie.
If that wasn't likable enough, the actor who played Sabretooth in that film, Tyler Mane, will reprise his role as the animal antagonist to Jackman's equally rage-filled mutant. We're not just seeing any repeat of the duo's fight from the first X Men Movie, then: we're getting one that fans (Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) or not) have waited almost 25 years. Color me excited.

Well, if you've been watching closely Deadpool and WolverineIn the making of X-Men, you may have known that Sabretooth was all but confirmed as part of the film’s sprawling cast. Several X/Twitter fan accounts, including the social media channel X-Men Updates, posted a bunch of leaked images in December 2023 (see above) that revealed that Mane would be returning as Sabretooth. For those people, this big reveal won’t be as surprising as it is for those just learning about his return from this trailer.
Still, it's satisfying to see that Mane is back as one of Wolverine's greatest enemies. And well, if Marvel has decided to reveal Sabretooth's return ahead of the film's July 26 release, it means they must be holding back even bigger and/or crowd-pleasing cameos for the film. Well, I hope you haven't cherry-picked and speculated on the other two major trailers. You can read the first one.
