A new contender is coming into play, in the form of the word salad OnePlus Nord Buds 4 Pro. OnePlus has confirmed that these earbuds will be announced on March 19, 2025, with some hints on what to expect.
What's in a name? Well, hidden in that diss title we see 'Nord', which points to them being pretty affordable headphones (even more so than their normal options, like the OnePlus Buds 4, which had inexplicably good noise cancellation but were otherwise average budget headphones).

The Nord Buds 3 Pro are getting a little stale now, after launching in 2024, so it's about time we see a younger model.

In addition to confirming the release date of the new earbuds, OnePlus shared an image of them (they're basically true wireless devices similar to AirPods) and the tagline “Quiet Space. Max Bass.”
We've put our heads together to understand what this could mean: We initially thought Max Bass was the name of OnePlus' new intern, but we couldn't find anyone with that name on LinkedIn. He also doesn't seem like the main character in a 1920s adventure series.
No, this is a confirmation that the two focal points of the new Nord headphones are noise cancellation and bass capability. This isn't surprising when looking at other budget headphones, especially OnePlus options, and the main differentiating point is the ease with which non-bass frequencies are transmitted.
I joke, and it's easy to roll your eyes at headphones with even cheaper bass given how many of those we see, but there's clearly a large audience of buyers who prefer things this way. If the brand turns up the ANC and bass to 11, they will probably go down as well as previous models.
And the OnePlus headphones offer pretty good value for money, so we won't rule them out until we've tried them.
