Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio from Sega, developer of the Like a dragon / Yakuza The franchise has given some details about what it's doing next.
As reported by VGC, the developer recently held the 'Essence of Fandom' panel at Anime Expo Los Angeles. Fans in attendance said during the panel that they were told they would be “surprised” by what RGG Studio has in store for its next title.
“We can't tell you what kind of game it is, but I will tell you… you'll be surprised,” reads the quote posted by TheYakuzaGuy on X/Twitter.

We can use a little analysis to try and figure out what Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's next game might be. Like a dragon: infinite wealth It was released earlier this year, meaning the next main installment in the series is probably still a ways off. It's perhaps more likely that the next game will be a spin-off or side story, as we saw last year with Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which completed the story of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu between the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Yakuza: Like a dragon.
RGG also handles development duties on other Sega properties, having also worked on Super Banana Rumble Monkey Ball and Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown. However, since the panel was strictly related to the Like a dragon series, the studio's next game will most likely be within that franchise.
With that in mind, we could see a spin-off game starring one of the series' popular supporting characters, or potentially a third entry in the series. Judgment series that takes place in the same continuity as Like a dragon. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for more details, as RGG Studio is known for having a relatively fast and efficient development schedule.
