Pre-orders for the new iPhone 16 models only opened yesterday, but we're already seeing delivery dates for several models extend beyond the September 20 date when these phones will go on sale in stores (note that we're only talking about US sales here).
As 9to5Mac reports, it's the iPhone 16 Pro Max that appears to be in the most demand (or perhaps it's the model Apple has the least stock of) — we just checked, and all colors and storage configurations are now showing 3-4 week US delivery times.
The situation is a little better if you want to order an iPhone 16 Pro. Some configurations show a delivery time of between 7 and 10 business days: all colors except Black Titanium with 128 GB and all colors except Desert Titanium with 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.
If you want a 128GB Black Titanium iPhone 16 Pro, or a 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB Desert Titanium iPhone 16 Pro, you're currently looking at a 5-7 business day delivery time, though the situation is obviously changing rapidly.
Colors and configurations
Most iPhone 16 Plus colors and configurations are still listed for delivery on September 20, with a few exceptions: the 256GB Teal and 512GB Pink models are expected to ship in 7-10 business days, and the 256GB Ultramarine model is expected to ship in 2-3 weeks.
Finally, the 128GB iPhone 16 in teal will ship in 7 to 10 business days, and the 256GB and 512GB iPhone 16s in teal will ship in 2 to 3 weeks; all others are currently launching on September 20. Either teal is a very popular color, or Apple hasn't made that many of those variants.
TechRadar readers have already told us that Ultramarine is the most popular colour for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, but at least for now, this shade is only in short supply for the 256GB iPhone 16 Plus handset.
Delivery dates will likely continue to change as more pre-orders are placed, but check the schedules for your own country and area. If you definitely want a new iPhone 16 on September 20, you can also head to your nearest Apple Store on that date.
