The official trailer of Invincible The second part of season 2 is here and promises to deliver a typically violent and epic ending to the latest entry in Amazon's hit superhero show.
Released online today (February 15), the next batch of episodes of the R-rated Prime Video animated series looks set to be the most action-packed and heart-wrenching yet. Indeed, Invincible Season 2, Part 2 is packed with some of the biggest stories from its eponymous literary source material, many of which set up big events in future volumes of Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Cory Walker's beloved comics.
So what's in store for long-time graphic novel fans, as well as the general public? Yes, Mark and Nolan have broken up once again and they're both in places they'd rather not be. Mark is stranded on Thraxa after the hyperviolent battle with some Viltrumites, while Nolan has been captured by said tyrannical race after he abandoned their station on Earth in Invincible season 1.
Unfortunately, things won't be much easier for Mark once he returns to his home planet. As the trailer reveals, he'll have to thwart an invasion by the mind-controlling alien race known as the Sequids (we last saw them halfway through the film). Invincible's first season), who end up possessing some of their fellow heroes in the Guardians of the Globe. Oh, and he'll have to deal with the return of burgeoning arch-nemesis Angstrom Levy, who still seeks revenge on Mark for his role in turning Angstrom into a maniacal monster. That's not all either. There's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment from Space Racer, a comic book fan favorite, and a great Mark Grayson-centric twist (yes, the foreboding shot showing him in a cape) that sets up a great multiversal. story to come in season 3 and beyond. In short: there is a lot to look forward to.
There are plenty of other plot threads that need to be picked up again in the next installment of the show, and its trailer suggests that we'll get resolutions for some of them in the near future. In fact, Amazon confirmed a March release date for Invincible season 2 part 2 last month, so we're just a month away from one of Prime Video's best shows making its grand return to our screens.
As to why Invincible Season 2 was split into two before its original run last year, with co-showrunner Simon Racioppa telling TechRadar that it “wasn't the original plan” to split it, but development logistics deemed it necessary. However, the decision proved divisive, as some Invincible Fans are unhappy at the prospect of having to wait four months between the final episode of season 2 part 1 and the return of the series. Still, at least we won't have to wait much longer.
