Die Gute Fabrik, the independent studio behind the adventure game Salt Sea Chroniclesexploration title mutation, and more, has announced that it has stopped production as a result of the current “tough” publishing and investment scenario.
in a statement Shared on social media today (February 26), Die Gute Fabrik shared that production stopped on February 19. While the duration of this hiatus is indefinite, the developer confirmed that it hopes to resume it later if it can secure funding. .
“The publishing and investment landscape is so difficult for companies and projects of our scale right now that Die Gute Fabrik is finding it extremely difficult to secure funding for our next project without a gap in revenue,” the statement read.

After halting production last week, the studio used the “remaining track to give the current crew a month of paid time to catch their breath.” He continued: “We will continue to try to find funding to resume production, but we wanted to announce this publicly so that [sic] the team can share that they are looking for new roles.” The management team of Nils Deneken and Hannah Nicklin are also among those looking for work.
Additionally, it was added that Die Gute Fabrik ApS will continue to operate to service the studio's previous IPs.
“Production could resume under Nils Deneken as CEO if the company finds financing in the coming years and, if so, we look forward to welcoming back our excellent collaborators whenever possible.”
Many game development studios have recently struggled under current industry conditions. Just today, The quarry and Dark Images Anthology developer Supermassive Games announced that it is entering a consultation periodwhich is expected to result in staff layoffs.
