Every year, I buy the iPhone Pro, but this year, for the first time, I found myself trapped between two options, and I didn't know what to do.
On the one hand, the iPhone 17 Pro brings what it feels like years of refinement to the design of Apple's smartphones, and on the other, the iPhone Air offers something really different.
On the day of the launch, I bought a cosmic orange iPhone 17 Pro and an air of Sky Blue iPhone, I am not sure whether to follow my head and opt for the Powerhouse Pro, or follow my heart and keep the elegant air.
I was so torn that I even asked Techradar readers to vote what smartphone I should keep (you don't hate me, I didn't agree with your decision).
Something different
After undoing both phones, it was evident that the Air offers a completely new experience compared to the PRO, especially for someone who has used almost all the iPhone who have been released during the last decade.
To be perfectly honest, as soon as the air sustained, I knew that my decision on which smartphone to maintain for the next year would depend completely on whether this elegant ultra -thin device could be kept up to date with my daily needs.
If after a weekend with the air, I felt disappointed by the smallest battery, the individual chamber and the lonely speaker, then I would reach the professional, a phone that gives me everything I could desire on an iPhone, apart from the spark of the novelty that I have been chasing.
So I put the brilliant iphone 17 pro of return in its box and left it in my desk; For the weekend, it was air.
The decision
Ultimately, Spoiler Alert: After using the iPhone air for the weekend, I chose to keep it and return the 17 PRO, and I will explain why.
The iPhone Air is the largest redesign for an iPhone since the launch of the iPhone X almost a decade ago, and as someone who constantly changes its smartphone, having access to a new iphone form factor feels really magical.
While I am not too worried about the impressive thinness, the air is incredibly light and combines with its large and beautiful 6.5 -inch screen, holding the device as close to holding a glass slab as I have once experienced. Combined with the liquid glass of iOS 26, it really achieves something extraordinary.
The titanium framework is Premium, already different from the aluminum that is found on the PRO devices, it will not be so prone to abolish and scratches; And the blue color of the sky is elegant and looks like the part.
In terms of performance, air 17 slides through my applications such as a knife through hot butter, and although I miss the teleobjective camera, it has never cared too much to capture the perfect shot with the device in my pocket.
The battery has not been excellent, but I feel on a desk all day, and I am happy to compromise using a MAGSAFE load support and the iOS waiting mode. And although the speaker is not a contest for other iPhones in the market with stereo sound, he does the job well and sometimes okay.
I know that it seems that I am overlooking the commitments that Apple has had to do to create the air, but that is on purpose; Because, ultimately, the only reason to opt for iPhone air on any other device on line 17 this year is how it makes you feel.
Sometimes you cannot explain how important it is that a product sits well in your hand and, more importantly, for those boring with the design of Apple's smartphones, they feel fresh and new.
The iPhone air is not the best iPhone you can buy at this time; Devils, probably offers the slightest value of all the alignment of the iPhone 17. Said that, it has something that no other iPhone offers, and that is the exciting sensation of the future, sometimes it is worth paying the novelty.
